The ClientA boutique personal injury law firm, located in Bangor, Maine The ChallengeBuild a custom document management solution The goal to go 'paperless' is thwarted by a lengthy complex series of steps required to scan incoming documents, properly name and store those scanned documents, email new document notification to the responsible and handling attorneys, and create a resultant document link in the Needles case management application. How can the paperless concept be realized while simultaneously decreasing the existing workload? The SolutionAbacus Consulting, LLC develops a custom middleware application to enhace and automate the workflow. The Needles application and Adobe Acrobat provide all of the relevant information to complete the process. A custom interface allows the client to verify matter information, document information, and pending actions. A single click saves and names the scanned document, creates a custom folder structure based on matter information, emails notification to handling attorneys, and creates the appropriate document link in the Needles application. 30+ clicks and a multitude of prompts are reduced to just a few keystrokes and one input field. |
