Creating the Calculated Field 

If you are confused at this point, fear not.  For now, we will move on to create the calculated field, and we will get back to the implementation of the mapped approach later. Pick your soon-to-be MaxEmail field, and edit the field properties as below.  Read on before attempting to modify the formula.

As you can see, this is simply a calculated field with the field name MaxEmailCalc.  Make sure the 'Result Format' is set as 'Text' and click the 'Edit Formula' button.  Populate all four of the formula fields as follows:

Field: Ref Name
  Appended w/space
Text: <1
  Appended
Text: '&DEFORMAT(CON:PHONE2)&'
  Appended
Text: @maxemailsend.com

How does this all work?  The first field, Ref Name will be the value of that field, such as:

Mr. John Jones

Then the text <1 is appended with a space so we have:

Mr. John Jones <1

Then the DEFORMAT command appends the contents of CON:PHONE2, but first strips the fax field of all formatting, such as parentheses and dashes so that we now have:

Mr. John Jones <19995551212

It is important not to leave out the single quotes or ampersands in the line containing the DEFORMAT command.  You may substitute CON:PHONE2 with the fax field of your choice from the contact form.

Finally we append the domain name text @maxemailsend.com> to complete the calculated field with a result of:

Mr. John Jones < This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it >

If you are using a calculated field that is not a 'phantom', then your job is done.  To send a fax, you will need to open a new email, and copy/paste the content of the calculated field into the 'to' field of the email message.  But what if you want to have that convenient email button to pop open a new email record with the 'To' field properly completed?  You have a few options.
